Clare County Council announces funding for the Creative Ireland Project Award

Clare County Council has announced its annual funding opportunity for creative work in the community – the Creative Ireland Project Award.

As part of Clare’s 2023 Creative Ireland Programme, individuals and groups are invited to submit proposals to develop bodies of creative work in the community with a public interface or engagement. The Project Award is an opportunity for individuals and groups to develop work or host an event that promotes wellbeing and inspires and transforms people, places and communities through creativity.

Each year, the Project Award has supported projects in multiple disciplines and formats such as visual art, film, music, theatre, dance, spoken word, etc. Projects can either be new initiatives or existing projects. 

Individuals and groups are invited to make applications to creatively explore the following themes:

  • Wellbeing of communities (geographical or communities of interest)
  • Heritage (which may include historical exploration, sense of place and traditions)
  • STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics)
  • Climate change and biodiversity
  • Irish language.

Awards of €500 - €2,000 will be granted.

At the announcement, Creative Ireland Coordinator, Helen Walsh, said: “Creative Ireland Clare is committed to the vision that every person in Ireland should have the opportunity to realise their full creative potential. This Project Award is an opportunity to support individuals and groups across the county who wish to explore that potential.”

“Since 2017, the Creative Ireland Clare Programme has supported Clare initiatives in arts, heritage, community and enterprise, and we are committed to continuing that support into the future,” Ms Walsh added.
